The baritone bowed psaltery has a range of C3 to C6, fully chromatic. I tried to strike a balance between incorporating as many of the 33 pitches in my scale as possible and replicating reinforcement pitches at various octaves. For example, because 1/1, 31/16, and 253/128 (11×23) would each be tuned to a C string, I decided to leave 253/128 out, since I very much want 1/1 and 31/16. Additionally, while I included 23/16 in one location, I decided not to include 3×23 or 13×23. Not only does this free up space for some octave duplication of pitches, but it also makes sense due to the extremely rich, pure (or nearly) overtones of this instrument. 3×23 and 13×23 both will be clearly projected by the 23rd partial itself. Plenty of color here, though I may add a second, smaller bowed psaltery to the ensemble.
